Why is this medication prescribed?

Intra-amniotic UreaŽ (carbamide) is given by injection into the uterus to cause an abortion. This medicine is to be administered only by or under the immediate care of your doctor. It is available in the Parenteral Injection (U.S.) dosage form.

Mechanism: UreaŽ kills the fetus, and prostaglandin helps ensure its expulsion.
